National Public Radio will air an interview with me on for their Arts and Culture program. They will air it on Thursday the 10th of January at 6:30 PM, Eastern Time. If you go to my website it has a link to the internet radio broadcast. My website is www.josegacosta.com . The piece should run between 6:30-7:00 PM.

  21. Greetings all,

First time attempting to come here and meet up with a new friend, never been before but apparently highly recommended it so after work tonight (currently it’s about 3:11) so in oh…. 5 and a half hours I shall drive my little self onto I4 and head to Winter Park and pray I find the place alright and a place to park… never been out there on a Tuesday night since I’ve been out here, crazy right?! Either way — I shall be there so anyone who freakishly reads this and spots me you better shout out, “Jamie Leigh! I see you! On the website! I see you!” … then I will be quite impressed…

Ah well, I will be there tonight if anyone else will be going…

    See you soon!

  31. Would your establishment like to donate a gift certificate for our raffle during the Rock for Hunger Annual Festival 4? We’re throwing a benefit concert on Oct 10th in downtown Orlando with Backbooth, 57 West, and Tanguerays. Please check out our website to review our homeless population assistance programs and long-term solutions. The raffle will help us raise additional funds during the concert. My call back number is 407-312-9995. I’d be happy to stop by and tell you more about our organization.

  36. I was at the Open Mic Poetry event last night. I have been there many times in the past, but last night was the worst time I have ever had there!

There was a lot of noise as the poets tried to read on stage. Several of the patrons in the back of the shop were so loud that we couldn’t hear the person on stage speaking, even though there was a mic and the sound system had been turn up more than once.

Now, I know that not every customer was there for the poetry reading, but they should have been courteous enough to keep their conversations at an acceptable volumn so the rest of the crowd could hear what was being said onstage!

Maybe the hostess could make an announcement to inform the customers to please be a bit more quiet during the performances.

I would hate to not feel it worth my time to come there and share my works with others if this were to continue.

  37. I have been reading at Austin’s for more than two years now, and want to thank the establishment for its cultural contribution to the central florida public. I have never found a more diverse place: poetry, live music, comedy, great food, and coffee…

What more can you ask for?

  38. I just had one of my most memorable meals in Central Florida. It’s “slow food” week, and Austin’s is participating in this event. The Beer and Cheese soup was outstanding, as was the tomato and basil soup, made with local ingredients. The entree I chose, marinated tofu panini was full of great flavors and was press cooked, allowing the bun to start caramelizing, adding a deeply crunchy texture and level of diliciousness that is hard to beat. The Panini was amply sized for this hearty eater, as was the cookie that was chosen as my dessert. Then “in house” freshly roasted (I watched the roasting myself!) shade grown, fair trade, organic coffee beans were ground and turned into a luxuriously dark, earthy, and smoky espresso that really was “spot on”. The affable Husband and Wife owners shared the work in getting the meal out, are Knowledgeable about food production, agribusiness and it’s effects on the health of not only our bodies, but our planet’s health as well. Their absolute passion for healthy and tasty food makes this eatery a place “not to be missed” whether you’re visiting Orlando, or living here in Central Florida. Austin’s is vegetarian and even Vegan friendly. Locally created paintings and artwork on the walls are for sale and help with the wonderfully eclectic ambience. Plenty of parking in the back of the building. Thank You Austins for a Delightful Lunch.
